Attention! In order not to damage the electronic unit in the key head, use the key carefully. Remove the key from the ignition only after the vehicle has come to a complete stop so that the steering lock does not engage.
Attention! To prevent the vehicle from rolling uncontrollably after the vehicle has come to a complete stop, always apply the parking brake.
The ignition key has the following positions:
Cars with petrol engines
- STOP - ignition is off, the engine is not running;
- 1 - ignition is off, power is supplied to auxiliary and additional consumers of electricity;
- 2 - ignition on;
- 3 - engine start.
Vehicles with diesel engines
- STOP - ignition is off, the engine is not running;
- 1 - ignition is off, power is supplied to auxiliary and additional consumers of electricity;
- 2 - engine preheating and position when the car is moving. During the operation of the starting preheater, other electrical appliances - large current consumers must be turned off. Otherwise, the load on the battery increases greatly;
- 3 - engine start.
For all vehicles
STOP position
To lock the steering, turn the steering wheel with the ignition key removed until the steering lock pin clicks into place.
Note. If, after removing the key from the ignition, the lighting devices or the direction indicator are not turned off, then at the moment the driver's door is opened, an audible signal of the type «buzzer».
Position 1
If the key in the ignition lock does not turn or turns with difficulty to this position, you should slightly shake the steering wheel left and right - the wheel will unlock.
Position 2
In this position, the ignition is on, the preheating of the diesel engine and the position when the vehicle is moving start to work.
Position 3
In this position, the external lighting is turned off and the parking lights are turned on, large consumers of electricity are turned off.
Before each new attempt to start the engine, the ignition key must be returned to the STOP position. The starter restart interlock located in the ignition lock prevents the starter from turning on when the engine crankshaft rotates and thereby protects the starter from damage.
