Air Filter — Carburetor Models (Peugeot 405)

1. Unscrew the clamp and remove the air duct from the carburetor.



2. Unscrew the clamp (indicated by the arrow) and remove the air supply tube from the filter housing cover.

3. Disconnect the clamps and remove the filter housing cover.

4. Remove the filter element and filter housing.

Hot air intake plate on the exhaust manifold

Cold air comes from the air intake on the front panel, and hot air comes from the intake plate on the exhaust manifold. These two streams of air go to the thermostat.

Solid Filled Duct Thermostat

When the engine is running in cold weather, the thermostat closes the flow of cold air and opens the flow of hot air from the manifold.

As the air taken from the exhaust manifold becomes warmer, the thermostat gradually closes away from the warm duct and opens the cold duct.
