Removal



1.6 liter models



1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Remove the air filter.

3. Remove the accelerator cable from the throttle actuator and disconnect the cable housing fasteners.

4. Remove the two bolts securing the wiring bracket to the top of the manifold and move the bracket with the wires and hoses to the side.

5. Release the clamps and remove the connectors from the four fuel injectors.

6. Remove the fuel supply and return hoses from the manifold side.

7. Loosen the clamps and remove the brake booster hose and crankcase ventilation hose from the top of the manifold. Label the hoses if necessary.

8. Unscrew the manifold mounting nuts and remove the manifold from the engine compartment. Remove the two manifold gaskets.

Engines 1.8 and 2.0 liters



1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Remove the throttle body, fuel line and injectors.

3. Loosen the clamps and remove the brake booster hose and crankcase ventilation hose from the top of the manifold. Label the hoses if necessary.

4. Where used, remove the oil level gauge pipe mounting bolt from the manifold.

5. Remove the nuts and bolts securing the manifold to the cylinder head and remove the manifold from the engine compartment. Remove the manifold gaskets.

Installation



1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

2. Please consider the following points:
  • clean the mating surfaces of the manifold and cylinder head from traces of old gaskets. Install new gaskets and manifold;
  • check that the previously removed hoses are installed in their places;
  • adjust the accelerator cable.
