Oil leaks
The oil used in the gearbox is usually dark in color. Therefore, do not confuse it with engine oil, which can get onto the gearbox from the engine. To check for oil leaks, clean the dirt from the gearbox housing and surrounding areas and test drive at low speed to ensure the oil is not carried by the airflow. Install the car on a viewing hole and determine the location of the oil leak. Leakage can occur from three areas: the oil sump, the oil dipstick pipe and the oil supply area to the heat exchanger.
