Removal



1. Raise the front of the vehicle and secure it on stands. Remove the splash guard from under the engine. The speedometer drive sensor is located on the rear of the gearbox housing near the inner end of the right drive shaft. Depending on the model, the speedometer drive may be cable or electrical.

2. On models with a cable-operated speedometer, remove the pin and remove the speedometer cable. On models with an electric speedometer, disconnect the electrical connector.

1. Install the adjusting shims onto the differential, then the speedometer drive pinion, aligning the mounting tabs (indicated by arrows). Install a new O-ring on the back of the speedometer drive housing, then install the housing in place and tighten the bolts. Install the drive shaft.

2. Lubricate the sealing lips and the pinion driven shaft and install the pinion into the speedometer drive housing.

3. Install a new O-ring onto the speedometer drive housing. Install the assembly onto the transmission.

4. Install the heat shield and secure with the bolt.

5. On models with an electric speedometer drive, connect the electrical connector. On models with a cable drive speedometer, connect the speedometer drive cable.
