2. Disconnect the terminals from the battery poles.
3. Drain the coolant, see the relevant chapter.
4. Unscrew the mounting bolts and move the power steering pump and power steering reservoir to the side.
5. Remove the engine control unit together with the support bracket.
6. Disconnect all wires from the engine and gearbox, and also remove sensors that may be damaged when dismantling the power unit.
7. Disconnect the cooling hoses from the engine and remove the fuse box.
8. Remove the air filter by disconnecting the supply air duct from the throttle valve and the MAF sensor plug.
9. Remove the battery and its tray.
10. Remove the upper engine cover, relay box and radiator.
11. Disconnect the gear selection and shift rod from the gearbox.
12. Unscrew the mounting bolts and move the air conditioner compressor to the side without disconnecting the hoses and refrigerant circulation lines from it.
13. Disconnect both drive shafts from the gearbox and secure them to the body with wire to prevent damage to the CV joints.
14. Disconnect the inlet pipes from the exhaust manifolds. It is also recommended to unscrew both lambda probes and disconnect the inlet pipes from the catalytic converters.
15. Disconnect the speedometer drive cable from the gearbox.
16. Raise the engine with a hoist or winch to relieve the load on its suspension supports.
5.16 Raise the power unit to relieve the load on its suspension supports
Attention! In workshops, a special beam 1 is used to lift the engine, which is attached to the corresponding lugs on the engine (see illustration).
17. Disconnect the left engine mount support (see arrows in the illustration).
5.17 Disconnect the left engine mount support (see arrows)
18. Unscrew the mounting bolts and disconnect the right engine support (see arrows in the illustration).
5.18 Unscrew the mounting bolts and disconnect the right engine support (see arrows)
19. Disconnect the gearbox mount support and remove the power unit from the engine compartment.
The power unit is installed in the reverse order of its removal.
Tightening torques for threaded connections:
- gearbox support mounting bolts - 30 Nm;
- gearbox support nut - 80 Nm
- engine mount mounting bolts - 50 Nm.
