Removal
1. The switch is located on the front side of the cylinder block, above the oil filter support or screwed into the oil filter housing. Please note that on some models, access to the switch can be improved by raising the vehicle and placing secure supports underneath it (see "Lifting and installing the car on supports") and remove the engine protection (if applicable).
2. Disconnect the ground wire from the battery (see "Disconnecting the battery").
3. Remove the protective sleeve from the electrical connector (if applicable), and then disconnect the electrical connector of the switch (figure 14.3).

4. Unscrew the switch from the cylinder block and remove the sealing washer. Be prepared for oil to leak out. If the switch is to be left removed from the engine for any period of time, plug the hole in the cylinder block.
Installation
5. Inspect the sealing washer for signs of damage or deterioration and replace if necessary.
6. Install the switch together with the washer and tighten it securely. Connect the electrical connector and connect the battery.
7. Lower the vehicle, then check and, if necessary, top up the engine oil to the proper level as described in "Weekly checks".
