Removal



1. Disconnect the battery negative terminal (refer to "Disconnecting the battery").

2. Remove the tailgate wiper arm, as described in Section 15.

3. Recover the spindle dust cover, then unscrew the trim disc and lift off the grommet cover (see illustrations).

4. Open the tailgate.

5. Remove the two screws securing the tailgate trim panel, then release the securing clips and withdraw the panel from the tailgate (see illustrations).

6. Unclip the wiper motor relay from the tailgate, then disconnect the wiring connectors and feed the wiring and the relay through the aperture in the tailgate (see illustration). Note the routing of the wiring, to aid refitting.

7. Unscrew the three motor securing nuts and withdraw the assembly, complete with the wiring and relay (see illustrations).

Refitting



8. Refitting is a reversal of removal, bearing in mind the following points:
  • a) Before refitting the assembly, check the condition of the wiper spindle grommet in the tailgate (see illustration) and renew if necessary.
  • b) Ensure that the wiring is correctly routed, as noted before removal.
  • c) Refit the wiper arm with reference to Section 15.
