2. To remove the filter, unscrew the fixing nut (nuts) upper air intake cover (2 nuts on SR models and one on GL and GR models). Lift the cover, being careful not to pull on the hoses (applies to all models) and automatic intake air temperature controller (only for SR models) (see photo).
3. Pull the old filter out of the air intake housing. Wipe the inside of the casing and its cover with a clean, lint-free cloth (see photo).
4. Install the new filter and check that it fits properly (see photo). Replace cover and secure with nut (nuts).
Replacing the Air Filter on XU Engines
1. Remove the cold and hot air ducts together with the intake air temperature control unit.
2. Remove the wing nut and remove the air cleaner cover. Pull out the old filter (see photo).
3. Wipe the air cleaner housing clean from the inside and install a new filter, observing all marks applied to it.
4. Replace and secure the cover. Install the intake air temperature control unit and the hot and cold air ducts.
Oiling the air filter (production models before 1983)
5. If engine oil gets on the air filter, remove the valve cover and inspect the breather baffle. If it refers to "lattice '' type, it should be replaced with a partition "scrubber" type (supplied by centers "Peugeot").
