Removal
Disconnect the battery.
Remove the lower powertrain guard.
Place a container under the engine to collect fuel.
Open the bleed screw (1).
Clean the fuel filter "a" pipes using certified products.
Disconnect the electrical connector (5) and the water presence sensor connector (depending on the configuration).
Disconnect the couplings (2), (3) and (4).
Note: Close the fuel lines with the plugs supplied with the fuel filter.
Loosen the union nut (6) using a belt wrench.
Remove:
- ring-nut (6);
- lid (7);
- filter element (8);
- seal (9).
Caution: Do not clean the fuel filter with a cloth or use compressed air.
Wait until the fuel in the fuel filter has drained. Loosen the mounting bolts and remove the fuel filter (10).
Add diesel fuel substitute to the tank (kerdan, dilutin or kerosene).
Clean the fuel filter with a brush.
Dry and clean the fuel filter with a high pressure cleaner.
Close the drain bolt (1).

Installation
Install the fuel filter (10) and mounting bolts (tightening torque 10 Nm).
Remove the central plug (11) from the cover.
Install:
- filter element (8) (new);
- new gasket (9), coated with grease;
- lid (7);
- ring-nut (6).
Attention: Make sure the cover is installed correctly (use devices to prevent incorrect connection A).
Tighten the nut (6) until marks B and C are aligned using a belt wrench.
Caution: Be careful not to exceed the painted maximum tightening mark.
Remove the cover plugs (7).
Connect the couplings (3) and (4).
Connect the female connector (diameter 10 mm) fuel filter bleeding pipe 1604-B/C in place of pipe (2), in zone D.
Disconnect the pipe (12) and connect the pipes (diameter 8 mm) for pumping the 1604-B/C fuel filter to the fuel return circuit.
Reconnect the battery.
Cycle the ignition on and off 10 times to fill and prime the fuel filter.
Remove the auxiliary pipe and pipe plug (2).
Connect the couplings (2) and (12).
Turn ignition on and then off (2 times).
Start the engine.
Check for leaks.
Install a protective screen under the power unit.
