1. To remove the carburetor, either partially drain the coolant or pinch the 2 water hoses connected to the carburetor to prevent loss of coolant. For the procedure for draining the coolant, refer to chapter 2.
2. Remove one or two nuts (depending on the model), holding the air cleaner cover. Disconnect the breather hose and, on SR models, move the air cleaner cover to one side, being careful not to pull on the heater control cable. On other models, simply remove the cover. Loosen or remove the 3 bolts securing the air cleaner housing to the carburetor. Lift the body off the carburetor, disconnect the air supply and remove the air cleaner from the engine.
3. Loosen the fitting of the supply fuel hose and disconnect the hose from the carburetor. Temporarily plug the hose to avoid fuel loss.
4. Disconnect the tube of the vacuum ignition regulator located in the distributor from the carburetor.
5. Loosen the choke cable lock and disconnect the cable from the carburetor control lever.
6. Disconnect the throttle cable from the spring-loaded drum and bracket on the carburetor.
7. Unscrew and remove the 2 nuts securing the carburetor to the intake manifold and remove the carburetor. Remove the old adapter gasket and cover the hole in the manifold with a cloth so as not to drop anything there while the carburetor is removed.
8. The carburetor is installed in the reverse order. Remove all traces of the old gasket and install a new one in its place. After installing the carburetor, connect the choke and throttle cables. Check that the air damper is correctly adjusted. With the choke handle fully retracted, the choke should be fully open and the cable should still have some freedom of movement (have a little slack). Check that the damper is closed when the choke handle is pulled out.
9. After connecting the two water hoses, remove the clamps from them and pour coolant into the system.
10. Upon completion, adjust the idle speed (see section 7).
