Intake air heating system (Peugeot 305)

1. To ensure that the engine operates normally at low air temperatures, warm air is supplied to the air intake in front of the air cleaner. To heat the air, a special casing is provided on the exhaust manifold. Switching from warm air supply to cold air supply and vice versa is carried out manually on the GL and GR models and automatically on the SR models.

2. Manual control is carried out using a lever on the air intake channel (above the casing on the exhaust manifold). The lever can be set to one of two positions: one marked HIVER ("winter"), and the second marked ETE ("summer").

3. Automatic control is gradual and is carried out using a thermostat located in the top cover of the air cleaner and controlling a valve located in the air intake duct (above the casing on the exhaust manifold) via a special cable (see photos). When cold air enters the air intake, the wax in the thermostat contracts and the connecting cable moves the valve so that the supply of cold air decreases and the supply of hot air increases. In warm weather, the reverse process takes place.


4. The system does not require special maintenance. In case of manual control (gL and GR models) it is necessary to switch the air intake as needed (before the onset of winter and summer).
