second pass - loosen

third pass - 20 nm

fourth pass - tightening at an angle of 90°

  • 170V engine with number 031999
  • Engine 170 C

first pass - 50 nm

second pass - loosen

third pass - 20 nm

fourth pass - tightening at an angle of 180°

Types of cylinder head bolts:
  • before July 1985 - 12x144 mm, 19 mm hex head
  • before April 1989 - 11x150x181 mm, 16 mm hex head
  • since April 1989 - 11x150x175 mm, Torx bolt head No. 55

Camshaft timing belt pulley mounting bolts - 22.5 Nm

Rocker arm bolts - 15 Nm

Bearing shield, timing drive side - 10 Nm

Camshaft retaining plate - 17 Nm

Water pump mounting on the cylinder head:
  • 10 mm bolts - 27.5 Nm
  • 8 mm bolts - 22.5 Nm
  • 10 mm nuts - 42.5 Nm

Oil filter base - 13 Nm

Oil pressure switch - 40 Nm

Main bearing cap bolts - 75 Nm

Connecting rod bearing bolts - 40 Nm

Flywheel mounting bolts - 68 Nm

Clutch mounting bolts - 15 Nm

Crankshaft pulley - 170 Nm

Oil pump - 10 Nm

Crankshaft counterweights - 68 Nm
