Place the engine on a lift.
Disconnect the battery.
Remove:
- battery (2);
- retaining cap (3);
- air pipe (4).
Carefully move the fuel injection system ECU (1) away.
Disconnect and move aside the electrical wire harnesses leading to the battery tray.

Remove the air intake pipe (5).
Remove the two bolts (7) and remove the battery tray (6).

Loosen the bolt (8).

Remove:
- protective screen under the engine;
- exhaust system clamp (10);
- nuts of the exhaust system suspension elements (9).
Move the exhaust pipe (11) towards the gearbox.

Disconnect and move aside the vacuum circuit tubes (in zone "A").

Unscrew the nut (13) and remove the vacuum tank (12).

Unscrew nuts (17), (18) and (15).
Move the wiring harness away from the starter.
Unscrew the two bolts (14) and remove the starter (16).

Installation
Caution: When removing, make sure the centering pin is present on the starter.
Install the starter (16).
Tighten the bolts (14) to a torque of 20 ±3 Nm.
Install the starter wiring harness.
Tighten the nut (17) to a torque of 10 ±1.5 Nm.

Tighten the nut (18) to a torque of 5 ±0.7 Nm.

Install the vacuum tank (12).
Tighten the nut (13) to a torque of 7 ±1 Nm.
Install the exhaust system components.
Tighten the exhaust system clamp (10) to a torque of 25 ±3 Nm.
Tighten the starter mounting bolt (8) to a torque of 20 ±3 Nm.
Connect the battery.
