The difference in the design of TU3 and XU engines is insignificant.

In the TU3 engine, the main journal bearings of the crankshaft form one single unit (as the lower part of the cylinder block divided along the axis of the crankshaft), whereas in the XU engine the main journal bearings of the crankshaft are mounted separately (cylinder block is indivisible). Therefore, the method of sealing the crankshaft is different.

In the TU3 engine, the valves in the cylinder head are mounted at an angle and therefore have two-way valve levers, whereas in the XU engine, the valves are mounted vertically and are actuated directly via tappets.

The TU3 engine has a different oil system circuit compared to the XU engines.
