Signs for setting the ignition on the flywheel

The ignition timing angle is checked at idle speed after removing the vacuum line from the ignition distributor and closing the line with a plug. The signs for checking the ignition setting are visible through the hole in the clutch housing (plate with divisions and a sign on the flywheel). The engine must be warmed up to normal operating temperature.

1. Connect the strobe lamp to the high voltage wire of the 1st cylinder in accordance with the lamp manufacturer's instructions.

2. Remove the vacuum line from the distributor vacuum regulator and close the line with a plug.

3. Start the engine and check the idle speed, which should be 750 rpm.

4. Illuminate the control marks in the clutch housing hole with a strobe lamp and read the ignition advance value.

5. If this value is different from 8° (at 750 rpm engine), you should loosen the ignition distributor and turn it so that the mark on the flywheel aligns with the 8° division on the plate.

6. Tighten the distributor and recheck the ignition timing using a strobe lamp.
