Examination

Raise the vehicle so that the wheels are off the ground.

Make sure that the friction of the brake pads begins after tightening the lever by one click.

Make sure that the normal lever travel does not exceed 5 clicks.

If the test shows incorrect results:
  • check that all cables are routed correctly;
  • make sure the cables are not pinched (poor grip of cables or sheaths);
  • make sure that all parts and components of the parking brake mechanism move freely in both directions.

Adjust the parking brake.

Adjustment

Parking brake:

Parking brake:
1 - lid;
2 - parking brake cable tension adjustment nut.

Remove the cover (1).

Attention: Check that the cables are routed correctly under the vehicle's underbody.

Set the parking brake lever to its lowest position.

Press the brake pedal lightly (repeat the previous operation three times).

Pull the parking brake lever sharply 4-5 times.

Rear brakes:

Rear brakes:
A - drum brakes;
B - disc brakes;
2 - parking brake cable tension adjustment nut.

Set the parking brake lever to the lowest position. Remove the rear wheels and brake drums.

Using a set of shims, measure the distance between the lever and the stop in zone "a".

Turn the nut (2) to obtain a gap less than or equal to 1 mm (in zone "a").

Remove the brake drum fasteners without tightening them (depending on the configuration).

Move the parking brake lever several times (8 times).

Set the parking brake lever to its lowest position.

Reinstall the removed parts.

Check the effectiveness of the parking brake.
