The location of the piston rings on the piston
1. Oil scraper ring
2. Middle O-ring
3. Top O-ring
Before installing new piston rings, check the gap in the ring lock.
1. Position the pistons and piston rings according to the cylinders in which they will work.
2. Install the top o-ring into the first cylinder and push it into the cylinder with the piston crown to the bottom of the cylinder.
Attention! The top and middle sealing rings are different, the outer surface of the middle ring is tapered.
3. Using a feeler gauge, measure the gap in the ring lock.
4. Repeat the measurement process with the ring installed on top of the cylinder and compare the measurement results with the technical data (see subsection 3.3).
5. If the gap is too small, it must be increased by grinding the ends of the ring.
6. If the gap in the lock of the ring is too large, check that the rings are correctly aligned with the engine.
7. Repeat the test operation for each ring in the first cylinder and then for the rings in the remaining cylinders.
8. Install the piston rings on the pistons in the same way as when removing. When assembling the oil scraper ring, first insert the spring and place the ring on top of the spring so that the ring lock is on the opposite side of the spring lock. Check that the middle o-ring is installed with the mark (paint label or word "TOP") up (see fig. The location of the piston rings on the piston). Install the sealing rings in such a way that their locks are offset relative to the oil scraper ring lock by 120°in different directions. Do not confuse the top and middle o-rings, as they have different profiles.
