To avoid injury to service personnel from high voltage generated by the ignition system and/or damage to the system itself, the following rules must be observed when performing work,
- a) Persons with a pacemaker are not allowed to work with electronic ignition systems.
- b) Do not touch or disconnect ignition system wires while the engine is running. The same requirement applies when turning the engine using the starter.
- c) Work on the system is permitted only with the engine off and the ignition switched off.
- d) Connection and removal of control and measuring instruments is permitted only when the engine is stopped and the ignition is off.
- d) Connection of test lamps to the terminals of the ignition coil is not permitted.
- g) Do not crank the engine with the starter unless all ignition system components are installed.
- h) Do not take measurements with the engine running or with the engine cranked using the starter if this requires connecting one of the wires to the ground (-).
- e) Do not allow high voltage wires to be connected to ground (-).
