Safety precautions when working with an air conditioning system (Peugeot 307)

When working with the air conditioning system, observe the following rules:

• wear protective gloves and goggles to eliminate any risk of frostbite;
• do not work with liquid refrigerant near open flames or very hot objects (for example, a lit cigarette), to avoid the risk of toxic fumes being released;
• it is necessary to work in a ventilated area;
• when opening the air conditioning system circuit, immediately seal all pipes with plugs to prevent moisture from entering;
• new parts must warm up to ambient temperature to avoid condensation of vapors;
• the plugs on the fittings of the parts must be removed at the last moment before installation;
• the condenser must not remain open to contact with atmospheric air for more than 5 minutes (even if it is connected to the circuit), because the dehydrator's built-in replacement element can become saturated with moisture;
• if the circuit has been exposed to atmospheric air for a long time, replace the dehydrator element and compressor oil;
• when connecting fittings, use only new sealing rings;
• before installing the O-rings, lubricate them with compressor oil;
• it is prohibited to turn on the air conditioning system when the liquid refrigerant has been drained from its circuit;
• before filling the circuit with liquid refrigerant, check the oil level in the compressor.

Caution! Air conditioning compressor lubricant is highly hygroscopic. When carrying out work, use only new operating materials. It is prohibited to remove the oil filler plug from the compressor if the circuit is filled with refrigerant.
