1. Check the ignition system, fuel system and lambda probe operation and ensure they are in good condition.
2. Replace the air filter element when it is time to replace it.
3. Make sure the exhaust system is sealed.

When servicing vehicles with a catalytic converter, there are some precautions to take:
- a) Do not park a vehicle with the engine running on a surface with a flammable coating. The catalyst is at high temperature and this coating may ignite.

- c) Monitor the amount of fuel in the tank and do not allow the fuel tank to run completely empty.
- d) Do not allow the catalytic converter to overheat. A defective catalytic converter can cause it to overheat.
- d) Monitor the condition and performance of the fuel injection and ignition systems. The engine should be stopped immediately if misfiring occurs (for example, the engine "fires").
