Brake booster — removal and installation (Peugeot Eurovans 807)

The brake booster 4 together with the brake master cylinder 2 and the brake fluid expansion tank 1 form a single unit connected to the brake pedal 3(see illustration 7.0). To gain access to the vacuum booster, the brake master cylinder must be removed. When removing the vacuum booster, its push rod is disconnected from the brake pedal.

Removal

1. Remove cabin filter 1 and its mounting bracket (see illustration).



2. Remove the air filter 3 together with the supply air duct, disconnecting it from the intake manifold, and the wire harness holder 2 (see illustration 7.1).

3. Unscrew the cap of the brake fluid expansion tank and collect the brake fluid.



4. Disconnect plug 4 of the brake fluid level sensor and two pipes 5 from the brake master cylinder, plugging their openings (see illustration). The tightening torque of the union nuts of the pipelines is 15 Nm.



5. Disconnect hose 6 from the brake fluid reservoir and unscrew the two nuts 7 securing the brake master cylinder to the vacuum booster (see illustration 7.4). Tightening torque of bolts 20 Nm.

6. Disconnect the low pressure hose 8 from the brake booster (see illustration 7.4).

7. Remove the lower instrument panel trim in the driver's side footwell and the interior blower fan.

8. Disconnect the return spring 9 from the brake pedal and unscrew the bolt 10, then disconnect the pedal from the pedal bracket (see illustration).





9. Remove clamp 11, which secures pin 12 of the pushrod fork, which connects it to the brake pedal (see illustration).

10. Unscrew the nuts of the studs 13, with which the vacuum booster 14 is attached to the bulkhead of the engine compartment and remove the booster (see illustration 7.9). The tightening torque of the nuts is 20 Nm.

The vacuum booster is installed in the reverse order of its removal.

11. Replace the old sealing gasket 15 of the vacuum booster with a new one (see illustration).
