Disassembling and assembling the front wheel suspension (Peugeot J5)

After removal in the manner described above, the front wheel suspension can be disassembled. The corresponding tightening torques are indicated on figure 134.

• If it is necessary to remove the wishbone with the ball joint, unscrew the ball joint from the bottom of the steering knuckle and press the ball pin out of the wishbone using a suitable puller.
• Unscrew the reaction rod from the transverse lever. Leave small parts on the rod, as the installed washers (up to 3 pieces are designed to adjust the longitudinal tilt of the kingpin).
• Unscrew the wishbone from the console. If a new wishbone is installed, the bolt (6) on figure 134 should be tightened to a torque of 90 Nm with the vehicle standing on its wheels. Not all cars have the same wishbones. They differ in the diameter of the support bushings.
