Removal
1. Disconnect the battery negative terminal (refer to "Disconnecting the battery").
2.Unclip the front edge of the under-facia trim panel from the facia and lower the panel. Unscrew the two nuts securing the trim panel to the studs in the footwell, then withdraw the panel from the footwell.
3. Working under the steering column, remove the three steering column shroud securing screws. Unclip and lift off the upper shroud, then withdraw the lower shroud. Note that the lower shroud clips over a metal bracket on the steering column and the shroud must be slid from the bracket before it can be removed.
4. Working under the steering column, unscrew the two steering column securing nuts, then gently lower the steering column, taking care not to strain any of the wiring connected to the switches on the column assembly.
5. Remove the two securing screws from the lower edge of the Instrument panel shroud, then remove the two upper shroud securing screws (see illustrations).
9.5a. Remove the lower...
9.5b.... and upper instrument panel shroud securing screws (arrowed)
6. Carefully prise the instrument panel shroud from the facia (see illustration). Note that it will be necessary to bend the upper facia panel slightly by hand in order to release the shroud securing lugs.
9.6. Removing the instrument panel shroud
7. Remove the two securing screws from the lower edge of the instrument panel and where applicable, the single upper securing screw (see illustrations).
9.7a. Remove the lower...
9.7b.... and upper instrument panel securing screws (arrowed)
8. Pull the instrument panel forwards sufficiently to disconnect the wiring plugs and the speedometer cable (pull sharply on the cable) from the rear of the panel, then carefully withdraw the panel from the facia (see illustrations).
9.8a. Disconnect the wiring plugs...
9.8b.... and the speedometer cable from the instrument panel (where fitted)
Note: Some models do not have a cable-driven speedometer.
Refitting
9. Refitting is a reversal of removal, bearing in mind the following points:
(Original publication on the website: «PEUGEOTBOOK.ru»)
- a) Ensure that the speedometer cable is securely reconnected.
- b) Ensure that the instrument panel shroud upper securing lugs engage with the facia.
- c) Tighten the steering column securing nuts to the specified torque (see Chapter 10).
