2. Remove the plastic cap from the shock absorber rod. Holding the stem with a hex wrench, unscrew the stem nut (see photo).
3. Remove the cup and washer from the shock absorber rod, reinstall the nut and tighten it a few turns. Remove elastic stop (see photo).
4. Slightly compress the shock absorber spring, pressing on the thrust cups, and not on the spring itself.
5. Disconnect the shock absorber ball joint from the suspension arm with a hammer and a brass or copper beard. Especially for this purpose, a hole is provided in the lever.
6. Raise and support the rear of the machine so that the rear wheels are off the ground. The spare wheel can be removed for easier access.
7. Disconnect the ball joint from the suspension arm, taking care not to damage the rubber boot. If necessary, you can compress the spring even more. After the ball joint is disconnected, remove the tool from the spring.
8. Remove the damper rod nut. Remove the shock absorber from the car and assemble the half rings, which will fall out. The semi-rings are specially matched to the spring and cannot be rearranged to the second C-pillar.
9. Now you can disassemble the shock absorber if necessary and replace the defective components. When installing a new spring, do not forget to change the half rings. The shock absorber rod nut must also be replaced.
10. Prepare the rack for assembly by assembling all the parts on the shock absorber. Secure the half rings in place with the rubber ring. Please note that the spring should end with a straightened coil on the lower cup. Pull the shock absorber rod outward as far as it will go.
11. Install the rack in place (see B/fig.12.105). Install the top fasteners, tightening the nut at this stage by hand. Remember that when tightening the stem nut, it is necessary to keep the latter from turning.
12. Gently compress the spring enough to allow the ball joint to be inserted into the hole in the control arm. Slowly release the spring, checking that the ball joint is in place. Remove the spring compressor.
13. Lower the machine so that it rests on the wheels. Install elastic stops.
14. Tighten the shock absorber rod nut to the desired torque while holding the rod from rotating. Place a plastic cap on the end of the stem.
