2. Install a valve cracking tool on the first valve and remove the crackers.
3. Gradually release the pressure of the cracker, remove it and pull out the valve and its spring. Remove the old valve stem seal from the guide bushing. Repeat the indicated operation on the remaining valves.
4. As you remove the valves, arrange them in order along with the valves, spring plates and crackers.
5. Clean the head with kerosene and use a scraper to carefully clean the combustion chambers and exhaust ports from carbon deposits. The scraper must be soft so as not to damage the surface of the head. Be sure to dry the head after cleaning.
6. Rinse the valves, springs, spring plates and crackers in kerosene, clean the valves with a scraper from carbon deposits. The valve heads can be cleaned, but do not "sandpaper" bearing surfaces of valves and stems. After washing, thoroughly wipe and dry all parts.
7. After cleaning the head, inspect it for cracks and damage, in particular in the area of the valve seats. Check the sealing surface of the head for deformation using a ruler and feeler gauges. The maximum allowable deformation or unevenness of the sealing surface of the head must not exceed 0.05 mm. Remember that cylinder regrinding on Peugeot 305 engines is strictly prohibited.
8. Minor defects and pits on the valve seats may occur during valve grinding, but in case of serious defects, a specialist should be consulted.
9. Carefully inspect the valves, especially the exhaust. Check that the valve stems are not bent or ledge. Valve seat surfaces must be in fair condition. With a significant mileage of the machine, the saddles may need to be re-grinded, which should be done in the workshop. If the valves have been reground before, if they are in poor condition, they will most likely need to be replaced.
10. Insert each valve into its valve guide and check for wear. When the guide bushings are worn and (or) valve stems, otherwise it unscrews along the intake valve stems, which leads to the appearance
