Control Lever Adjustments
B. Idle adjustment screw
C. Fuel metering screw
Attention! This adjustment only applies to the Bosch fuel pump. The Lucas fuel pump does not need to be adjusted. controlled by the ECU.
Because the usual type of tachometer, which operates from the impulses of the ignition system, cannot be used on diesel engines; a diagnostic connector is installed on them to connect special measuring equipment that is not available at home. If the idle speed differs from the required one, it is necessary to use a special tachometer or contact a Peugeot station.
Accelerator cable adjustment
1. Before adjusting, warm up the engine to normal operating temperature so that the radiator fan turns on at least two times.
2. Check the throttle cable adjustment as follows.
3. The lever on the fuel pump must be in contact with the maximum speed adjustment screw (indicated by an arrow), otherwise, remove the accelerator cable adjusting clip and install it in the desired groove to ensure the accelerator cable is properly tensioned.
4. Remove the accelerator cable and check that the control lever is in contact with the fuel metering screw.
Idle speed adjustment
1. Loosen the lock nut and unscrew the fuel metering screw until it moves away from the control lever.
2. Loosen the locknut and turn the idle speed screw until the desired engine speed is reached. Tighten locknut.
Fuel dosage adjustment
1. Insert a 1 mm spacer or feeler blade between the pump control lever and the fuel dosage adjustment screw.
2. Start the engine at idle speed. The engine speed must match the required values.
3. If necessary, loosen the lock nut and set the required engine speed with the fuel dosage adjustment screw. Retighten the locknut.
4. Remove the gasket or dipstick blade and check the idle speed.
Fast idle adjustment
1. Stop the engine and check that the lever is in contact with the adjustment screw. If necessary, loosen the locknut and reposition the nut (IN) idle speed control cable. Tighten locknut (A).
2. Remove the vacuum hose from the idle boost control diaphragm and start the engine. Check that the engine is running at high idle. If necessary, loosen the locknut and move the idle speed control cable nut. Tighten locknut. Stop the engine and reconnect the vacuum hose to the diaphragm.
3. Finally, turn off the tachometer.
4. If adjustments to increase the idle speed are made, adjust the shock absorber.
Shock absorber adjustment
Bosch High Pressure Fuel Pump Adjustment Elements
1. Locknut; 2. Gasket; 3. Rod; 4. Adjusting screw; 5. Pump control lever
1. Make all the adjustments described above.
2. Loosen the lock nut and unscrew the control arm damper adjustment screw located on the back of the arm, and insert a 1.0mm spacer or feeler blade between the damper rod and the adjusting screw (see fig. Bosch High Pressure Fuel Pump Adjustment Elements).
3. By turning the adjusting screw, set the gap so that the feeler blade can easily move between the shock absorber rod and the screw. Tighten locknut.
