Attention! When checking the operation of the fuel injectors, never place your hands or any part of your body under the jet of fuel coming out of the injector. The fuel exits the nozzle at high pressure and can enter the body through the skin, which can be fatal.
Examination
Injector performance degrades with prolonged use and most likely needs to be repaired or replaced after 100,000 km of vehicle run. Checking, overhaul and calibration of injectors must be carried out by a specialist.
1. Run the engine at high idle.
2. Sequentially unscrew the fuel line connections to each injector. When unscrewing the pipeline on a working nozzle, the engine operation mode will change. When unscrewing the pipeline on a faulty injector, the engine operation mode will not change.
Removing
Attention! To remove the nozzle with the needle lift sensor, it is necessary to use a special socket to ensure the movement of the sensor wire, available at the Peugeot station.
1. Remove the air intake piping and upper intake manifold.
2. Thoroughly clean the area around the injectors and the nuts securing the pipelines to the injectors.
3. Unscrew nuts of fastening of pipelines to atomizers. If necessary, the fuel pipes can be completely removed. Close the ends of the nozzles to prevent dirt from getting in.
4. Remove the return lines from the injectors.
5. Unscrew from the fuel pump fuel pipes of atomizers.
6. Unscrew the injectors from the cylinder head using a special 27 mm socket wrench and remove the injectors.
7. Remove the copper washers from the injectors.
8. Remove the sealing washers from the cylinder head.
Installation
1. When installing, use new copper washers and sealing washers. Also install new bushings if the old ones are damaged.
2. When working with nozzles, be careful not to damage the nozzle needle.
3. When installing, first insert the bushings into the cylinder head, then the fireproof washers (bulge up) and copper washers.
4. Insert the nozzles and tighten them to the required torque.
5. Install the fuel pipes to the injectors.
6. Reconnect the fuel return pipes.
7. Install the air intake piping and upper intake manifold.
8. Start the engine. If the engine does not start, bleed the air from the fuel system.
