Removal
1. The parking brake cable consists of two sections (right and left), which are connected to the lever through a leveling plate. Each section can be removed separately.
2. To gain access to the parking brake adjuster nut, remove the rear section of the center console as described in chapter 11.
3. Place wheel chocks under the front wheels. Raise the rear of the vehicle and place secure supports underneath it (see "Lifting and installing the car on supports").
4. Release the parking brake, and then loosen the parking brake adjuster nut (figure 13.5). Slide the equalizer plate off the adjuster stud and remove the end of the appropriate parking brake cable from the equalizer plate.
5. If necessary, remove the nuts and then release the exhaust heat shield on the underside of the vehicle to gain access to the front of the appropriate parking brake cable. Release the front end of the cable sheath from the body and remove the cable from the corresponding support guide.
6. Follow the cable along its entire length, release it from the plastic clamp on the fuel tank and the wire support hooks on the bottom and trailing arm.
7. Remove the rear brake pads on the corresponding side as described in paragraph 5. Using pliers, carefully release the cable housing from the brake shield and remove it from under the vehicle (figure 15.7).

Installation
8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Before installing the center console, adjust the parking brake as described in paragraph 13.
