Overheat


  • Lack of coolant in the system ("Weekly checks"),
  • Thermostat is faulty (stuck in closed position) (chapter 3).
  • Blockage of the radiator core or clogging of the radiator grille (chapter 3).
  • The electric fan or sensor is faulty (chapter 3).
  • Sealed lid malfunction (chapter 3).
  • The coolant temperature sensor/gauge is faulty (Chapter 3).
  • Air lock in the cooling system (chapter 3).
  • The engine management system is faulty (chapter 4).

Hypothermia


  • Thermostat is faulty (stuck open) (chapter 3).
  • Coolant temperature sensor/gauge is faulty (chapter 3).

External coolant leak


  • The hoses or clamps are damaged (chapter 1).
  • Leak from radiator core or heater core (chapter 3).
  • Sealed lid malfunction (chapter 3).
  • Coolant pump leak (chapter 3).
  • Boiling of liquid due to overheating (chapter 3).
  • Leakage through process plugs (chapter 2).

Internal coolant leak


  • Cylinder head gasket leak (chapter 2).
  • Crack in the cylinder head or in the cylinder block (chapter 2).

Corrosion


  • The fluid is not changed and the system is flushed often enough (chapter 1).
  • Incorrect ratio of coolant components or incorrectly selected coolant brand (chapter 1).
