Note. Before deciding that the cause of the problem is related to the brake system, make sure that the tires are in good condition and sufficiently inflated, the front wheel alignment is correct, and the load on the vehicle does not lead to uneven load distribution. With the exception of checking the condition of the connections of all piping and hoses, troubleshooting related to the anti-lock system should be performed by a dealer or other specialist.
Vehicle pulling to one side when braking
- Worn, defective, damaged or dirty brake pads on one side (chapter 1 and 9).
- Full or partial seizing of the front brake caliper piston (chapter 9).
- Brake pads made of different materials are installed on the brakes located on different sides (chapter 9).
- Loose brake caliper bolts (chapter 9).
- Worn or damaged steering or suspension components (chapter 1 and 10).
Noise (screech or screech) when braking
- Wear of the friction material of the linings to the metal base (chapter 1 and 9).
- Increased corrosion of the brake disc/drum. May occur after storing the vehicle for some time (chapter 9).
- Foreign object (pebble, etc.) stuck between brake disc and shield (chapter 9).
Too much brake pedal travel
- Faulty brake master cylinder (chapter 9).
- Air in hydraulic system (chapter 9).
- Faulty vacuum booster (chapter 9).
The brake pedal is felt «soft» when you press
- Air in hydraulic system (chapter 9).
- Faulty flexible rubber brake hoses (chapter 1 and 9).
- Loose nuts securing the brake master cylinder (chapter 9).
- Faulty brake master cylinder (chapter 9).
More pressure on the brake pedal is required to stop the car
- Faulty vacuum booster (chapter 9).
- Disconnected, damaged or loose booster vacuum hose (chapter 9).
- Faulty primary or secondary hydraulic circuit (chapter 9).
- Brake caliper piston sticking (chapter 9).
- Brake pads installed incorrectly (chapter 9).
- Wrong brake pads installed (chapter 9).
- Dirt on brake pads (chapter 9).
Intense vibration felt through the brake pedal or steering wheel when braking
- Increased runout or distortion of brake discs or drums (chapter 9).
- Wear of brake pads (chapter 1 and 9).
- Loose brake caliper bolts (chapter 9).
- Wear of steering or suspension elements or their fastening elements (chapter 1 and 10).
Sticky brakes
- Jamming of the brake caliper piston or wheel cylinder (chapter 9).
- Parking brake mechanism incorrectly adjusted (chapter 9).
- Faulty brake master cylinder (chapter 9).
