Warning. Be careful not to get any dirt into the fuel filter housing or spill any fuel onto the clutch when performing this procedure.


1. The fuel filter is located in a plastic housing on the front of the engine.

2. If applicable, cover the clutch housing with suitable plastic sheets to protect the clutch from fuel spills.

3. Remove all traces of dirt from the outside of the filter housing, and then drain the condensate from the fuel filter as described in paragraph 4.

4. Unscrew the four bolts and remove the cover from the filter housing (figure 19.4).

5. Remove the filter from the housing (figure 19.5). Make sure the rubber sealing ring comes off with the filter and is not stuck to the body/lid.

6. Remove all traces of dirt from the inside of the filter housing, then, making sure the sealing ring is in place, install the new fuel filter.

7. Apply thread locking compound to the threads of the filter cover mounting bolts, install the cover and secure it with bolts.

8. Prime the fuel system as described in chapter 4B.
