Removing
Models with 1.9L engine
1. Remove the intake air line as described in paragraph 3. Unhook the throttle cable from the throttle lever on the injection pump, and then pull the cable sheath out of the support bracket along with the appropriate spring clip. While the cable is disconnected, remove the cable mounting sleeve from the support bracket for safety (pic. 4.1, a-c).

Models with 2.0L engine manufactured before September 2002
2. Remove the clips (turn them 90°to release) and remove the engine cover (pic. 3.20, a, b).
3. Turn out two bolts and disconnect an arm of the gauge of position of a pedal of an accelerator from the case of the air filter. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the sensor, and then pull the cable sheath out of the sensor bracket along with the spring clip (pic. 4.3).

Models with 2.0L engine manufactured after September 2002
4. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the pedal position sensor located above the right engine/transmission mount (pic. 4.4).

5. Remove the cable sheath from the rubber grommet on the sensor bracket along with the spring clip.
All models
6. Follow the cable along its entire length and sequentially release it from all clamps or collars, noting for yourself how it is divorced.
7. Inside the vehicle, remove the fuse box cover and lower trim section from under the front panel on the driver's side.
8. Get your hand under the front panel, squeeze the tip of the cable and disconnect the cable from the top of the accelerator pedal. If applicable, remove the baffle grommet mounting clip.
9. Tie a piece of fishing line to the end of the rope.
10. Go to the engine compartment, release the cable grommet from the bulkhead and remove the cable. When the end of the cable appears, untie the fishing line and leave it in place; it can be used to retract the cable during installation.
Installation
11. Tie a line to the end of the cable, and then use the line to pull the cable through the baffle. When the end of the cable appears, untie the line and connect the cable to the pedal. If applicable, install the baffle grommet clip.
12. Working from the engine compartment, properly secure the cable sheath into the grommet on the bulkhead, then properly route the cable and secure it along its entire length using the appropriate clamps and ties.
13. On models with a 1.9L engine, insert the mounting sleeve into the support bracket, and then pass the cable through the sleeve and connect it to the accelerator lever. Adjust the cable as described below and then install the instrument panel trim sections.
14. On 2.0L models, pass the cable sheath through the grommet in the support bracket and connect the cable to the accelerator pedal position sensor. If applicable, install the sensor bracket to the side of the air filter housing and tighten the appropriate bolts securely. Adjust the cable position as described below. Install the instrument panel trim sections.
Adjustment
15. On all models, remove the spring clip from the accelerator cable sheath (pic. 4.15). Move the high pressure fuel pump lever/accelerator pedal position sensor to the limit position and carefully pull the cable out of the corresponding grommet until the slack in the cable is completely eliminated.
Pic. 4.15. Remove the spring clip and adjust the accelerator cable (model shown with 1.9L engine)
16. While holding the cable in this position, install the spring clip into the last open groove in the cable sheath in front of the rubber grommet and washer. After installing the clamp and releasing the cable sheath, the cable should have only a small amount of play.
17. Have an assistant depress the accelerator pedal and check that the accelerator lever/accelerator pedal position sensor enters the fully open state and smoothly returns to the limit position.
18. Finally, install the engine cover and secure it with the clips.
