Models with 1.9L engine
2. All models are equipped with a manual priming pump that is built into the fuel filter housing. To gain access to the pump, release the locks on the right side and on the top plane of the engine cover, and then carefully, so as not to lose the rubber mounts, remove the cover (pic. 3.1, a-c).
3. Operate the boost pump until you feel resistance, then pump a few more times (pic. 6.3). This allows you to fill the elements of the fuel system and remove air from the system.

4. Start the engine as usual. If difficulties arise, pump the pump a few more times with the ignition on.
5. After starting the engine, make sure that all rubber mounts are properly installed, and then install the engine cover and secure it with latches.

Bosch High Pressure Fuel Pump
Note. This procedure will require a new drain plug and fuel filter O-ring.
6. Remove the clips (turn them 90°to release) and remove the engine cover (pic. 3.20, a, b).
7. When finished working on the fuel system, release or leave loose (whichever is applicable) new fuel filter drain plug. Switch on the low pressure pump 4 or 5 times by turning on the ignition, each time for 5 seconds. Switch off the ignition and wait 5-10 seconds for the pressure in the fuel supply circuit to drop. Tighten the drain plug and wipe up spilled fuel thoroughly. Start the engine and check for signs of fuel leaking from the filter drain plug after starting the engine.
