1. After disconnecting a part of the fuel supply system or completely running out of fuel, it is necessary to fill the system and remove any air that may have penetrated into its components. The methodology is described below.

Models with 1.9L engine



2. All models are equipped with a manual priming pump, which is built into the fuel filter housing. To gain access to the pump, release the latches on the right side and on the top plane of the engine cover, and then carefully, so as not to lose the rubber supports, remove the cover (Figure 3.1, a-c).

3. Pump the priming pump until you feel resistance, then pump it a few more times (figure 6.3). This allows the fuel system components to be filled and air to be removed from the system.

4. Start the engine as usual. If difficulties arise, pump the pump a few more times with the ignition on.

5. After starting the engine, make sure that all rubber mounts are installed correctly, then install the engine cover and secure it with the clamps.



Models with a 2.0L engine

Note: This procedure will require a new fuel filter drain plug and O-ring.


6. Remove the clips (turn them 90° to release) and remove the engine cover (figure 3.20, a, b).

7. After finishing work on the fuel system, loosen or leave loose (whichever is applicable) new fuel filter drain plug. Turn on the low-pressure pump 4 or 5 times by turning the ignition on, each time for 5 seconds. Turn off the ignition and wait 5-10 seconds for the pressure in the fuel supply circuit to drop. Tighten the drain plug and thoroughly wipe away any spilled fuel. Start the engine and check for signs of fuel leaking from the filter drain plug after the engine is started.

8. Remove the clips (turn them 90° to release) and remove the engine cover (figure 3.20, a.b).

9. The manual priming pump is located on the right side of the front side of the engine (figure 6.9).

10. Operate the priming pump until you feel resistance, then pump a few more times. This allows the fuel system components to be filled and air to be removed from the system.



11. Start the engine as usual. If difficulties arise, pump the pump a few more times with the ignition on.

12. After starting the engine, make sure that all rubber mounts are installed correctly, then install the engine cover and secure it with the clamps.
