Right cuff
1. Remove the crankshaft timing pulley and flange spacer (if available), as described in paragraph 7.
2. Mark the cuff installation depth relative to the housing surface to ensure correct installation. Punch or drill two small holes diametrically opposite each other in the cuff. Screw a self-tapping screw into each hole and pull the cuff out using pliers on the screws. Alternatively, carefully pry out the cuff using a flat-head screwdriver. Be extremely careful not to damage the flange on the crankshaft/oil pump drive gear or the oil seal housing (figure 14.2).

3. Clean the cuff body and remove any roughness or burrs that may cause damage to the cuff during installation.
4. Lubricate the sealing lips of the new seal with clean engine oil and carefully place it onto the end of the crankshaft. Please note that the sealing edge must face inward. Be careful not to damage the sealing lips during installation.
5. Install the cuff to the depth noted during removal. Use a suitable tubular tool, such as a socket head, that rests only on the hard outer edge of the cuff. The inner surface of the cuff should be flush with the inner wall of the engine crankcase.
6. Wash off all traces of oil, then install the crankshaft timing pulley as described in paragraph 7.
Left cuff
7. Remove the flywheel (see paragraph 15).
8. Mark the cuff installation depth relative to the housing surface to ensure correct installation. Punch or drill two small holes diametrically opposite each other in the cuff. Screw a self-tapping screw into each hole and pull the cuff out using pliers on the screws.
9. Clean the cuff body and remove any roughness or burrs that may cause damage to the cuff during installation.
10. Lubricate the sealing lips of the cuff with clean engine oil and carefully place it on the end of the crankshaft.
11. Install the cuff to the depth noted during removal. Use a suitable tubular tool, such as a socket head, that rests only on the hard outer edge of the cuff.
12. Wash off all traces of oil and then install the flywheel as described in paragraph 15.
