After working on the brake master cylinder or ABS unit, bleed the hydraulic circuits in the following order:
- left front wheel;
- right front wheel;
- left rear wheel;
- right rear wheel.
After carrying out any work on the caliper, bleed the hydraulic circuits in the following order:
- caliper, which was filmed;
- left front wheel;
- right front wheel;
- left rear wheel;
- right rear wheel.
Attention! It is not recommended to use the fluid drained from the brake system to fill the expansion tank, as it is saturated with air, has a lot of moisture and may be contaminated. When removing and installing the master brake cylinder, it is recommended to complete the automatic bleeding by manual bleeding. Air removal is carried out on a car with a running engine.
Automatic pumping
For automatic pumping:
- install a special cap with a fitting on the compensation tank with brake fluid;
- connect the special cap with fitting to one of the certified PEUGEOT automatic bleeding devices;
- bleed the circuit following the instructions for use of the device.
Manual pumping using the brake pedal and the participation of two people
For manual pumping:
- remove the dust cap from the front left caliper bleeder, clean it and put one end of a clean transparent hose on it, lower its other end into a container partially filled with brake fluid. The container must be at least 300 mm above the bleed valve. This prevents air from entering the caliper through the threads of the bleeder fitting;
- sharply press the brake pedal 3-5 times with an interval of 2-3 s, unscrew the bleed valve half a turn with the pedal depressed. Continuing to press the pedal, force the old brake fluid in the circuit along with air bubbles through the hose into a container;
- after the pedal reaches the extreme forward position and the flow of fluid through the hose stops, screw the bleeder in until it stops;
- release the brake pedal so that it returns to its original position;
- repeat these operations until clean brake fluid, free of air bubbles, begins to flow out of the bleeder valve;
Attention! During bleeding operations, make sure that the correct level of brake fluid in the reservoir is maintained.
- repeat these operations for the remaining wheels.
Bleeding air from the ABS unit
Hydraulic units are supplied filled with brake fluid.
When replacing the ABS unit, you can carry out:
- manual bleeding with the brake pedal;
- automatic pumping.
If bleeding the hydraulic circuit does not give the desired results, you can bleed the ABS unit using the DIAG 2000 diagnostic tool, following the instructions that came with it.
