1. Remove the front strut from the car and clean off the dirt. Using a special tool, compress the spring so that its upper cup is unloaded.
Attention! When using a special device for spring compression, make sure that the coils of the spring are securely gripped, and compress the spring from opposite sides. The spring has a very high compression force, so use only a very reliable tool. Never tie the spring with wire.
Attention! The central fastening nut can only be unscrewed when the spring is compressed.
2. Secure the shock absorber rod against turning with a wrench and, using the second ring wrench, unscrew the central nut of the shock absorber rod.
3. Take off the plate (top of the front strut).
4. Remove the gasket and upper spring seat.
5. Remove the coil spring.
6. Remove the washer from the top of the front strut.
7. Clean the protective cover and rubber stop.
8. Remove the lower spring seat.
9. Check all suspension strut components for wear, damage or deformation. Check the smoothness of the shock absorber rod. Check the shock absorber for leaks, as well as its stem for pitting along the entire length.
10. Install the lower spring seat onto the strut and slide the rubber stop over the shock absorber rod. Install the protective cover and washer. In this case, the lower end of the protective cover must be installed on the shock absorber body.
11. Install the coil spring so that its lower end is correctly positioned in the spring seat. Install the upper spring seat so that its upper end fits into the recess in the upper spring seat (arrow). Install the gasket and top plate.
12. Install the washer and screw the new nut onto the shock absorber rod.
