Models with 1.9L engine
1. The fuel injection advance is set when the timing belt is installed. Whenever a problem is suspected, remove the timing belt covers and check that that the alignment holes on the flywheel, camshaft and high pressure fuel pump are correctly aligned and locking tools can be inserted (see paragraph 3 of chapter 2B). If the mounting holes are properly aligned, the injection advance of the high pressure fuel pump is set correctly (Peugeot/Citroen does not specify any data for static or dynamic injection timing for this engine; on the WJY engine, the injection advance to one degree or another constantly changes the EEU). If not, remove and reinstall the timing belt as described in chapter 2B.
Models with 2.0L engine
2. On the 2.0 liter engine, the fuel injection advance is set by the ECU based on information from various sensors. Checking and adjustment can only be carried out using special diagnostic equipment (see paragraph 1).
