- disconnect consumers of electricity;
- remove the appropriate fuse and connect the multimeter contacts to the fuse contacts;
- apply power to the circuits, while remembering that some circuits of electrical equipment turn on when the key in the ignition switch is turned to a certain position;
- if there is voltage in the circuit (as evidenced by a control lamp or multimeter readings), which means there is a short circuit in the circuit;
- if there is no voltage during the test, but the fuse still blows when this circuit load is connected, this indicates a malfunction of this load element.
