The vehicles are equipped with manual transmissions (MT) in three versions: 20CE; 20CD (gasoline engines) and 20DL (diesel engines), each of which has its own design features.

In neutral position, the gearshift lever is automatically positioned on the 3rd and 4th gear engagement line (20, see figure 1.11).
When shifting from any gear to neutral, the lever, under the action of the springs, tends to return to this position.
All forward gears have synchronizers that allow easy and silent gear shifting. To engage 5th gear and reverse gear, it is necessary to press the lever to the right with some force to prevent 3rd or 4th gear from engaging.
Reverse gear should only be engaged when the vehicle is stationary; in this case, the reversing lights will come on if the ignition key is in position "A".
When the engine is running, change gears only with the clutch pedal fully depressed to avoid damaging the transmission gear teeth.
Caution! When driving, do not keep your hand on the gear shift lever, as the pressure of your hand is transferred to the shift forks and causes their premature wear.
