On the EW10J4 engine, the intermediate muffler is made as one piece with the catalytic converter. Replacing one of the elements requires cutting the exhaust system when using the proposed method.

Removal



To remove the intermediate muffler on the EW10J4 engine, perform the following procedure:
  • place the car on a lift;

  • cut the pipe at the place indicated by the stamped mark A (figure 3.91);

Note: If the stamping is not visible, make a cross-section on line B = 170 mm (figure 3.92) intermediate muffler.

  • install fixture 1 (figure 3.93) to cut the pipes to the place indicated by the stamped mark A and cut the pipe;

Caution: When cutting a pipe, the chain of the device should be generously lubricated with oil.

  • remove the intermediate muffler from the exhaust system.

Installation



Install the intermediate muffler on the EW10J4 engine in the following order:
  • place the intermediate muffler in its place;

  • install bushing 1 (figure 3.94) from the repair kit, centering it in relation to the pipe cut.
