Oil filter (Peugeot 306)

The oil filter has a bypass valve and only filters with such a valve should be installed. The filter is located in the front of the engine compartment.

To remove the oil filter, use a tie strap. Otherwise, you can place a piece of sandpaper on the filter, with the sandpaper facing the filter, grab the filter with both hands and unscrew it. If it is not possible to unscrew the filter in this way, insert a powerful screwdriver into the filter housing and use it to unscrew the oil filter like a lever.

Lubricate the sealing ring of the new filter with engine oil and screw the filter until it fits against the cylinder block. From this position, tighten the filter by hand another 3/4 turn.

Unscrew the filter again and tighten it again until the rubber gasket touches the cylinder block. From this position, tighten the filter by hand an additional 1/2 to 3/4 turn. To ensure proper filter sealing, it is essential to follow these instructions.
