The engine has a forced lubrication system. A gear pump, driven through a separate chain from the crankshaft, supplies oil at the required pressure to all bearings and all moving parts. The turbodiesel engine has four lubrication nozzles installed in the cylinder block to cool the underside of the pistons. The filling capacity of diesel and turbodiesel engines is 5.5 liters, including filter.

Figure 394 shows a diagram of the lubrication circuit of a turbodiesel engine. On a diesel engine, the lubrication circuit diagram is similar.
