Removal
42. Perform the actions described in paragraph. points 1 and 2, if you haven't done so yet.
43. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery (refer to paragraph "Disconnecting the battery").
44. Loosen the two bolts securing the tension pulley assembly to the engine (figure 12.44).
Figure 12.44. Accessory drive belt and tensioner (0W series motors without power steering)
45. Turn the adjusting bolt to move the tensioner pulley away from the drive belt and provide enough slack in the belt to allow the belt to be removed, then remove the belt from the pulleys.
Note: If the belt is to be reused, mark the direction of rotation on it before removing it. This will ensure that the belt is installed correctly.
Installation
46. When replacing a belt, ensure that the new belt is the correct type, and if installing a removed belt, follow the marks made during removal to ensure it is installed correctly.
47. Place the belt on the pulleys so that the belt ribs fit correctly into the grooves on the pulleys and the belt is routed properly.
48. Select the belt slack using the tension pulley adjusting bolt. Then tighten the belt as described below.
Stretching
Tip: Proper drive belt tension ensures reliable operation throughout its lifespan, while slack causes slippage and squealing. Be careful not to exceed the required tension as this may cause increased wear on the generator bearings.
49. Perform the actions described in paragraph. points 1 and 2, if you haven't done so yet.
50. The belt should be tensioned so that when pressing firmly with the thumb, there is approximately 5.0 mm of deflection in the middle of the longest section between the pulleys.
51. To make the adjustment, loosen the two tensioner pulley assembly mounting screws and turn the adjusting bolt until the correct tension is achieved. After ensuring the correct belt tension, rotate the crankshaft two revolutions and check the tension again.
52. After ensuring that the belt tension is correct, securely tighten the tension pulley assembly mounting screws and connect the ground wire to the battery.
53. Secure the coolant hoses in their normal position (if applicable) and install the locker (or a technological lid). Install the wheel and lower the vehicle.
