Removing
1. Start work from the engine compartment. Engage the control knob on the high pressure fuel pump and unhook the cable from the lever (pic. 11.1).

2. Pull the cable out of the grommet in the injection pump bracket (Pic. 11.2)

3. Release the cable from the rest of the clamps and brackets in the engine compartment, noting its wiring for yourself.
4. Inside the vehicle, remove the fuse box cover and lower trim section from under the dashboard on the driver's side.
5. Get your hand under the front panel, squeeze the tip of the cable and disconnect the cable from the top of the accelerator pedal. If applicable, remove the baffle grommet mounting clip.
6. Tie a piece of fishing line to the end of the rope.
7. Return to the engine compartment, release the cable grommet from the bulkhead and remove the cable. When the end of the cable appears, untie the fishing line and leave it in place; it can be used to retract the cable during installation.
Installation
8. Tie a line to the end of the cable, then use the line to pull the cable through the baffle. When the end of the cable appears, untie the line and connect the cable to the pedal. If applicable, install the baffle grommet clip.
9. Working from the engine compartment side, properly secure the cable sheath into the grommet on the bulkhead, and then properly route the cable and secure it along its entire length using the appropriate clamps and ties. Make sure the cable routing is correct.
10. Pass the cable sheath through the grommet in the support bracket and connect the cable to the lever on the high pressure fuel pump. Adjust the cable position as described below.
Adjustment
11. Remove the spring clip from the accelerator cable sheath. Move the control lever to the limit position and carefully pull the cable out of the corresponding grommet until the slack in the cable is completely eliminated.
12. While holding the cable in this position, install the spring clip into the last open groove in the cable sheath in front of the grommet and washer. After installing the clamp and releasing the cable sheath, the cable should have only a small amount of play.
13. Ask an assistant to depress the accelerator pedal and make sure that the control lever moves to the fully open state and smoothly returns to the limit position.
