Removal
1. Remove the fuel tank as described in paragraph 10.
2. Press the locking elements on the quick release coupling and disconnect the fuel line from the top of the pump. Cap the end of the fuel line to prevent dirt from entering.
3. Check that there are alignment marks on the tank, pump cover and retaining ring. If the markings are not visible, apply your marks using a quick-drying paint such as printing correction fluid.
4. Unscrew the retaining ring and remove it from the tank. It is best to use a screwdriver for this, hooking it onto the protrusions of the retaining ring. Gently tap the end of the screwdriver to turn the ring counterclockwise until it can be loosened by hand. Alternatively, you can use a special Peugeot/Citroen tool that fits over the tabs and allows you to release the ring using a ratchet and extension.
5. Carefully remove the fuel pump from the fuel tank, being careful not to damage the fuel level gauge float arm. Remove the rubber sealing ring and discard it; when installing, you should use a new one.
6. Please note that the fuel pump is supplied only as a complete unit; individual elements are not supplied.
Installation
7. Install a new sealing ring onto the top of the fuel tank.
8. Carefully insert the pump into the fuel tank, being careful not to damage the float arm.
9. Position the pump so that the factory marks or marks applied during removal on the pump and tank are aligned. On some types of pumps, a projection on the pump body fits into a cutout in the tank to ensure proper alignment.
10. Install the retaining ring and tighten it securely until the mark on it aligns with the mark on the pump.
11. Connect the fuel line to the pump, and then install the fuel tank as described in paragraph 10.
