Removal, inspection and installation of the torque converter (Peugeot 206)

Remove the torque converter in the following order:
  • remove the gearbox;

  • install accessories 2 (figure 6.18);
  • pull the torque converter and remove it;

Caution! There is a significant amount of oil in the torque converter.

  • using a tool, remove the seal 1 (figure 6.19).

Check before installing the torque converter:
  • torque converter centering element;
  • bearing surface of the torque converter seal;
  • three attachment points;
  • oil pump drive flats;
  • torque converter shaft splines.

Install the torque converter in the following order:

  • install with tool 2 (figure 6.20) seal 1, after cleaning the seal seat;

Caution! It is prohibited to use any other brand of oil in the torque converter than the recommended one.

  • before installing a new torque converter, partially fill it with oil;
  • lubricate the inner bearing surface of the torque converter seal with oil;
  • slowly and carefully insert the torque converter using the tool, rotating it slightly in different directions to facilitate the entry of the splines into the grooves.
