Special fixtures:
1 - fixture for fixing the hub 6310-T;
2 - lever for disconnecting the ball bearings of the steering knuckle 9509-T;
3 - ball joint puller 1892-T;
4 - mandrel for installing the left transmission seal 7114-T W;
5 - mandrel for installing the right transmission seal 7114-T X.
Withdrawal (left-hand side)
Place the car on a lift.
Remove the front wheels.
Drain the gearbox oil. Install tool 1. Unlock hub nut (1). Remove the nut (1) and fixture.
Loosen the nut (2).
Disconnect the tie rod ball joint using tool 3.
Loosen the nut (3).
Loosen the steering knuckle joint using tool 2.
Save the ball joint guard for reuse.
Release the drive shaft from the hub.
Remove the drive shaft.
Right side
Loosen the nuts.
Turn the mount a quarter of a turn and remove the drive shaft (5).
Remove mounting bolts (5a).
Move the trunnion back and rotate the shock housing one turn to avoid damaging the driveshaft bellows.
Right drive shaft: turn the wheels to the right as far as they will go.
Left drive shaft: turn the wheels to the left as far as they will go.
Remove the end of the CV joint from the hub. Remove the drive shaft.
Replace the trunnion in the shock body and hold it with a bolt (5a).
Installation of the right and left drive shafts
Check:
- no gaps in hinge joints (6);
- condition of corrugated protective caps (7);
- support bearing (8).
Repair drive shafts if necessary.
Replace oil seals after each removal using 4-5 mounting mandrels.
Pack grease into the space between the lips of the oil seal.
Install the left and right drive shafts in the reverse order of removal.
Clean and apply multi-purpose grease to the driveshaft hub splines on the wheel side. Right drive shaft: Clean and lubricate with multi-purpose grease the outer bushing of the support bearing (8) and its nest in the lower right engine mount.
Fill the gearbox with oil and check the level.
