Water pump — removal and installation (Peugeot 305)

1. Remove the timing belt (see Chapter 1A, Section 4).

2. Drain the coolant (see section 4) and disconnect the lower radiator hose from the pump inlet.

3. Unscrew the bolts and remove the water pump from the cylinder block (see photos). Remove the gasket.




4. Clean the contact surfaces of the water pump and cylinder block.



5. Install the pump in place with a new gasket, insert the bolts and tighten them evenly to the required torque.

6. Install the timing belt (see Chapter 1A, Section 4).

7. Fill the system with coolant (see section 6).

Water pump (latest models) - modification

1. Beginning in late 1992, an 8-blade water pump was installed instead of the 5-blade one. If necessary, the new 8-blade pump can be installed in place of the old 5-blade one.
