The oil level should be checked every 60,000 km.
When performing the following work, do not confuse the models of gearboxes, because they differ in the tightening torques of the mounting bolts, filling volumes, etc.
For the BE 3/5 gearbox, the oil level plug in the gearbox is located on the outside (see illustration 3.0).
3.0 Holes and screw plugs on the gearbox housing BE 3/5.
1 - drain plug
2 - filler neck and hole for checking the oil level
3 - air vent plug
In order to unscrew the plug, you need a four-sided socket wrench.
In order to check the oil level in the gearbox, it is necessary to unscrew the filler cap.
1. Insert your index finger into the filler hole. If the finger feels oil, then the oil level is normal.
To drain the oil, it is necessary to unscrew the plug of the hole on the bottom side of the box, under the main gear (see illustration 3.0). Draining the oil is best done when the engine is warm to improve fluidity.
To unscrew the drain plug, you also need the appropriate wrench.
2. Place a suitable container and drain the oil. In order for the oil to flow out better, it is recommended to unscrew the filler plug. After draining the oil, clean the drain plug and screw it back into place.
The tightening torque for the drain plug is 35 Nm and for the filler plug is 22 Nm.
For other transmission models, the oil level check hole is located on the outside of the gearbox housing (see illustration 1.0c). Checking the oil level is carried out in the same way as above.
Draining the oil from this type of gearbox is carried out in the same way as above. The tightening torque for the plugs of both holes is 30 Nm.
3. Fill the box with approximately 2 liters of appropriate specification gear oil. In this case, the oil level will be flush with the lower edge of the oil filler hole. When filling oil into the BE 3/5 gearbox, the vent plug can be removed (see illustration 3.0). In this case, when installing the plug, check the condition of its sealing ring.
